Cisco’s latest assault on the high-end router market not only aims to impress with its speed, but also isn’t a device you will want to hide in a cupboard–it actually looks nice.
Usually routers are a boxy affair in a matte black, white or silver finish with lots of aerials sticking out of them. The Linksys E4200 is different and Cisco has gone with a curvy, up-to-date design you really don’t mind looking at.
Gaming and video streaming demand high-performance router. The router must be able to deliver high-speed for smooth gaming response, jitter-free, and lag-free. This should also apply to High Definition video streaming, no other data traffic can disturb the performance of the router while you are experiencing the gaming and streaming.
The other features your router should support when you use wireless network for connecting the game console wirelessly to the network, the router should support clear network, no interference from other source of signal attenuator and should also be capable of providing prioritization for gaming or video streaming traffic over other data traffic.
The Linksys E2000 is an affordable Wi-Fi router with excellent features. For the price, you get a 300Mbps 802.11n dual-band wireless access point that can run either in 2.4GHz or 5GHz mode, as well as a four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch. The best part is that it's very reliable and fast.
Just like the older Linksys WAG320N (which unlike the E2000, had a modem), the E2000 can't run both the 2.4GHz network and the 5Ghz network simultaneously, so you'll have to pick one network frequency and stick with it. We can't fault the router for this given its price. You'll have to consider purchasing the Linksys E3000 if you want simultaneous dual-band operation.
